NCA BOARD ELECTIONS Call for Nominations The National CACFP Sponsors Association will have THREE (3) openings on the Board of Directors beginning on our next fiscal year. One seat is designated for a Head Start sponsor, one for a Small Sponsor of Family Child Care Homes <200 homes, and the third seat is at-large. The newly elected Board Members will begin serving their three-year term October 1, 2017. Deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 15th, 2017. |
WEBINAR MARCH 14 3:00-4:15 PM EDT Afterschool Meals: Expanding access to Afterschool Meals is crucial: a quarter of low-income parents worry that their children don't have enough to eat between lunch at school and breakfast the following day. Schools are excellent partners in increasing participation, and this webinar will focus on giving schools the tools needed to implement the Afterschool Meals Program effectively. Drawing on best practices gleaned from pilot tests and interviews as well as resources like the Three Meals a Day guide co-produced with the School Nutrition Foundation, this webinar will show how Afterschool Meals can be a win-win-win for schools. READ ALOUD 15 MINUTES March is Read Aloud Month As care givers for over 4 million children who work to ensure healthy access to food through CACFP, we can also work together to also feed childrens' minds. Reading aloud is the single most important thing a parent or caregiver can do to help a child prepare for reading and learning and yet more than half the children in this country - 13 million children - will not hear a bedtime story tonight, according to our national ally Read Aloud.
