USDA FNS POLICY MEMO
Update on Food Crediting

Effective 12/4/2018, these foods are creditable in the Child and Adult Care Food Program:

* Shelf-stable, dried and semidried meat, poultry, and seafood snacks. These are not limited to meals and snacks served off-site.

* Coconut, hominy, popcorn, surimi seafood, and tempeh.

As a reminder, turkey bacon is creditable.

Also on the horizon are new memos to provide additional clarification on how these new creditable items can be used to fulfill food components. More guidance on crediting vegetables disguised as other food components, including noodles or pastas made from vegetables is also forthcoming.
