Nutrition Education Specialist
Position: Nutrition Education Specialist
Hours: Full Time – Exempt
Travel: 10%
Summary
NCA’s Nutrition Education Specialist serves the members of the association and CACFP community at-large by developing nutrition education materials to support stronger program operations.
Key Responsibilities
Nutrition Education
• Understand USDA regulations and policy to serve as CACFP food crediting staff expert
• Develop nutrition education training concepts and draft copy such as sample menus, recipes, how-to flyers, food crediting guidance, Ask An RD, Child Nutrition Today magazine articles
• Review national training conference workshop and exhibitor proposals, materials, handouts, and presentations for program compliance
• Review and develop online, webinar-based training for the CACFP Community
• Develop and present nutrition education training virtually and at in-person conferences
• Provide social media response and develop posts regarding food crediting for the child care community
• Provide policy review, recommendations, and draft nutrition-based opinion statements that reflect the members as applicable
• Write and populate nutrition education blog posts
Travel / Other
• Attend and staff national conference (mid-April)
• Attend annual team retreat (early November)
• Attend, staff, or present at additional conferences as needed
• Additional responsibilities and projects as determined
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related major
• RD or RDN
• Two years related experience
• Ability to think critically, identify opportunities, and understand relationships
• Knowledge of CACFP requirements and Federal Regulations
• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
• Must meet physical requirements of position
• Dedicated home office/child care
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with project management software
• Spanish language fluency

Position & Location
This is a full-time, exempt position with a week of required travel in both mid-April and early fall (Oct/Nov), at minimum or as needed.
Employees of NCA work independently from home offices which provide a closed space for confidentiality, however, staff is required to live in TX and attend training and meetings in Round Rock, TX.
Staff members are required to have a dedicated home office, fast and reliable internet, and child care. NCA will provide staff a phone, computer, external monitor, webcam, and office supplies.
