Community Nutrition Program Consultant - State Agency Minnesota

Job Summary

Community Nutrition Program Consultants at the MN Department of Education, Nutrition Program Services division, conduct Program compliance reviews and provide technical assistance and training to sponsors of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Compliance reviews consist of reviewing documentation of administrative and financial systems for managing the federal nutrition funds. Then conducting an operations visit to observe, evaluate food program compliance, and provide specific technical assistance for corrective action. Throughout the state of Minnesota, there are various schools, licensed child care centers, licensed family daycare homes, licensed adult day care centers and afterschool care programs participating in the CACFP. There are also nonprofit schools, summer camps, nonprofit organizations and units of local county government, tribal or migrant organizations that participate in SFSP.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of professional level experience working on nutrition projects or programs

OR

A bachelor's or master's degree and three (3) years of professional level experience working on nutrition projects or programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian or other accredited nutrition professional
  • Experience managing and leading team projects and meeting deadlines
  • Experience with customer service and technical assistance
  • Experience developing training and learning materials using adult education principles
  • Experience using motivational interviewing
  • Experience preparing reports on the assessment of compliance
  • Experience utilizing spreadsheets
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing menus or diets
  • Experience interpreting and implementing regulations and policy
