International Nacho DayNachos are a great way to quickly serve up the CACFP meal pattern components, and can have added value as a Family-Style Dining experience with children who are able to serve themselves. For an easy make-your-own nacho bar for International Nacho Day on October 21, give children ages 3-5 a plate with 1/2 oz eq of whole grain tortilla chips. Then, have them scoop 2 oz of cooked, seasoned chicken and 1/4 cup of refried beans onto their chips. They can choose the rest of their toppings to their liking, such as cheese or salsa. |
