November is Sweet Potato Awareness Month. This vegetable is popular in holiday dishes, but also boasts high fiber, antioxidants, beta carotene and potassium. Minor Updates to Milk Substitutes

USDA released a memo outlining a couple of minor updates resulting from the meal pattern final rule earlier this year. The memo updates the units of measurement for Vitamin A and D in fluid milk substitutes from International Units (IUs) to micrograms (mcg) to align with FDA labeling requirements, however the actual amount of Vitamins required did not change. The memo also clarifies that registered dietitians can sign medical statements for milk substitutes. No action is needed.
