CACFP Week Challenge Winners

Thank you to everyone who participated in the CACFP Week social media challenge! This year's winner is Courtney Fritchen with a beautiful homemade hummus and veggie platter. We also had runners-up from BRAD Child Development Programs and Little Angel Playschool, who posted their #CACFPCreditable meals and snacks every day last week.

Kitchen Skills & More Culinary Training

USDA's Team Nutrition launched a new website last week, expanding its Institute of Child Nutrition with a culinary institute that provides in-depth, hands-on culinary training and resources. While the website is for school nutrition professionals, there are great ideas for everyone, such as knife skills.

Water: It's a Great Choice

Proper nutrition is always important for the development and health of young children, but so is proper hydration. This worksheet from the USDA's "Nibbles for Health" series is designed to send home to parents to educate them on how they can promote regularly drinking water at home, including an activity sheet that can make drinking water a game.

Win Prizes with the Virtual Scavenger Hunt

Even though the 2021 National Child Nutrition Conference is going virtual this year, that doesn't mean that our attendees won't have fun opportunities for engagement! Visit our virtual exhibitors for a chance to win some great door prizes in this year's scavenger hunt.

Peppy Quinoa

Give this #CACFPCreditable recipe a try if you're looking to introduce quinoa to your menus. This side dish provides 1/8 cup vegetable and 1 1/4 oz equivalent of whole grains, and it gets its "peppy" name from the use of pepitas, otherwise known as pumpkin seeds.
