Pandemic Response: Childcare of the Future, Pennsylvania

We have been preparing and delivering food packages to our enrolled children since April, servicing 300 children for 5 days a week and 50 children for 7 days a week. Each child receives two meals and one snack per day. We prepare the packages on Monday and Tuesday every week for parents who pick up and we also deliver on Wednesdays. The children send thank you photos and videos. We are so happy to be able to do this for our families. ~ Tashua Adens, Lansdowne, PA

Food Buying Guide Yield Study

Do you have ideas of foods that might be useful to CACFP providers, and/or ideas for preferred package sizes, serving size per meal contribution, or other considerations for yield information to include in the Food Buying Guide? For example, would you like to see mixed vegetables, frozen, 4-way blend? Strawberries, fresh, sliced? Roasted chickpeas?

Porcupine Sliders

These healthy, mouth-watering turkey burgers, high in protein, have just the right amount of spices and a kick of sweet cranberries, all served on small whole-wheat rolls. The addition of brown rice to the burger mixture creates a prickly look like little porcupines - thus their name.

Financial Relief Needed

The US House of Representatives passed the bill that would give financial relief to child care providers, centers, afterschool programs, emergency shelters, and sponsoring organizations.

The Senate has not moved forward with it at all. Ask them to pass the bill and provide aid now to keep child care, adult care, and sponsoring organizations open for business.
