Caring for Children while Social Distancing

You can probably teach us all about it by now, but watch this webinar for activities to consider while social distancing. It's on demand and when you answer the post-survey questions, you'll get a certificate of participation for .5 CEUs toward continuing education.

Comments for Proposed Rule Deadline Wednesday April 22nd

We encourage all CACFP program operators to comment today on the proposed rule from FNS titled: Simplifying Meal Service and Monitoring Requirements in the NSLP & SBP. Here is a model comment you may copy and paste. As always, we ask that you personalize these to share your voice.
As a (sponsor, child care provider, CACFP Operator) I DO NOT support including Grain-Based Desserts in the CACFP meal pattern. We have spent two years (learning / training) that these are typically high in fat and sugar and that menu planning with nutritious food choices is important when teaching children healthy eating habits.

Nutrition Education
Milk in the CACFP

Drinking milk is an important habit for young children and serving them milk at meals is a CACFP requirement. Learn which type of milk is reimbursable based on age.

As a reminder, for now, meal pattern waivers have been issued by the USDA due to lack of access. Check with your sponsor or state agency for guidance.
