USDA Secretary to Give Keynote at National Child Nutrition Conference

Tom Vilsack, the Secretary of Agriculture, will headline Monday's schedule of events at the 2021 Virtual National Child Nutrition Conference with a keynote address. Reminder: Registration ends on Thursday, April 15.

Celebrating Thirty Years of Family-Centered Child Care

"We emphasize community in our child care. To us, our child care is an extension of our family. We want every parent, child and sibling to feel that way, too."
~from Salem, Oregon, Renee Wehrend has been a CACFP Participant through Nutrition First Community Action since 2002.

Expanded Access to CACFP Meals for Young Adults in Emergency Shelters

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced that young adults under the age of 25 experiencing homelessness will now be able to receive meals at emergency shelters participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Under normal circumstances, USDA only reimburses shelters for meals served to children, through age 18, but the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act expanded several nutrition assistance programs to reach the most vulnerable populations experiencing food hardship due to the pandemic, including homeless young adults.
